What Is HSMA?
HSMA is an acronym that stands for Hilton Sports Marketing Agency. The company was created by a college professor that has had the opportunity to see a shift in the landscape of college athletics. Laws have been passed in most states that now allow for athletes to legally make money off of their name, image and likeness. Unfortunately, some student-athletes get left out of the equation. HSMA will leverage the playing field.
What Is NIL?
Literally, it means “name, image, and likeness,” and refers to college athletes’ ability to profit off themselves. NIL gives players the right to publicity that ordinary citizens already have, but that the NCAA previously didn’t allow. Players can accept money from businesses in exchange for using them in products or advertisements, and can also promote themselves or other companies in public appearances. Please see the maps below.
